Species Overview[edit]

Ghosts are supernatural entities that are present in both the Devildom and the Human World. In Lesson 11 (OM), it is shown that humans may become ghosts immediately after death.

In the Devildom, ghosts are also known to run businesses, such as a café in Devil's Coast see in Lesson 26 (OM). However, in both the Devilgrams The Ghostly Gift of Music and Gifts for a Special Night, it is shown that while ghosts are commonly seen at RAD or around town, it is strange for ghosts to gather in large groups outside of their own villages.

In the Devilgram Gifts for a Special Night, it's shown that one ghost village is located in a forest, and only appears after someone passes through the cave-like entrance. In some cases, such as in the Pop Quiz Spooky Happenings, ghosts are portrayed as mischievous beings, which may be why demons become concerned when there are too many ghosts gathered in one place.

Ghosts are able to communicate with the living in various ways. Some ghosts speak verbally in a language understood by humans, such as Grisella in Lesson 11 (OM), while other ghosts do not. In Lesson 26 (OM), it is shown that demons are able to understand what ghosts say even when humans cannot.

Ghosts are also known to celebrate the Ghost Festival. As evidenced by the Devilgrams The Ghostly Gift of Music and Gifts for a Special Night, some ghosts are also interested in Christmas, presumably either because they have some lingering attachment to the holiday or because they were never able to celebrate the holiday before.

Appearance[edit]

As seen in the card art for Test of Courage, some ghosts may be green. In the card art for Halloween and Sick, it's shown that some ghosts may be blue. In the art for both cards, the ghosts are seen to be semi-translucent. In the card art for Gifts for a Special Night, the ghosts are white.

In the Devilgram Gifts for a Special Night, Lucifer mentions that ghosts come in similar sizes to humans.

Ghosts are supposedly not visible unless they want to be. For example, as seen in Lesson 26 (OM), ghosts that work at Devil's Coast can be seen by both humans and demons. However, after her death in Lesson 11 (OM), Grisella had to reveal herself. The rumored crying ghost outside RAD is also said to only be visible under certain circumstances.

Powers and Abilities[edit]

Ghosts possess various powers and abilities, depending on the kind of ghost. At least some are able to manipulate the world around them, as shown in the Pop Quiz Spooky Happenings. As shown in the Devilgram Test of Courage, some ghosts may also be felt physically. Witches are also able to retain their powers as ghosts, as seen in Lesson 11 (OM).

Ghosts are also capable of magic and spellcasting, as seen in the Birthday Pop Quiz Happy Birthday! Dear Beel and Belphie '23. After boarding the Ghost Train, both Belphegor's and MC's outfits were magically changed by the ghost attendants.

Ghost Train[edit]

The Ghost Train is an example of a business run by Devildom ghosts. As Belphegor explained in the Birthday Pop Quiz Happy Birthday! Dear Beel and Belphie '23, the train is invisible and travels through the night sky. One can only see the train if they possess a ticket to ride it. More detailed information about the train is not publicly known, but there are various rumors among demons.

In the chat The Ghost Train of My Dreams 1, it is mentioned that some demons believe that guests are turned into ghosts if they ride the train, or even that the ghost train does not really exist. However, Lucifer has ridden the train before, and has confirmed that the ghost train does exist, and that riders do not turn into ghosts.

In the chats The Ghost Train of My Dreams 2 & 3, Belphegor and MC get the opportunity to ride the ghost train. It is revealed that Belphegor received two tickets after helping a lost ghost, who turned out to be the conductor. The ghost train is a sightseeing train that can be boarded by invite-only, and riders get a bird's-eye view of the Devildom. Guests are to board at nighttime, which is the train departs.

During one's travels, the ghosts on board will treat the guest to a night of the finest luxury, especially if the guest was invited by the conductor. However, it is also mentioned that guests can be thrown out of the train if they bother other passengers. The food served on the train is translucent.
