"A growing demon who is always eating something. He loves his younger twin brother Belphegor."

— Beelzebub's Student ID

Beelzebub is a demon whose first appearance in Obey Me!'s Main Story was in Lesson 1-2, and whose first appearance in Nightbringer's Main Story was Lesson 1-1. He has six brothers, and as the sixth-most powerful of the seven, he holds the title of "sixth-born." He also possesses the title "Avatar of Gluttony" and is a representative of that sin. As one of the main characters in both Obey Me! and Nightbringer, he is included in both games' Intimacy system.

Appearance[edit]

Beelzebub has short, shaggy orange hair and pale skin. His eyes are a gradient of indigo and raspberry pink, just like his twin Belphegor. Like his siblings, he has painted nails, his being colored the same orange as his hair. He is the most visibly muscular of his brothers due to one of his favorite activities (besides eating): working out.

As seen in the official height chart, Beelzebub is the tallest of the seven brothers, only somewhat taller than Lucifer.

RAD Uniform

Beelzebub RAD Uniform full.png

Beelzebub's RAD Uniform is the typical charcoal grey jacket with gold accents and matching charcoal-colored pants with red stripes along the sides. Like Mammon and Leviathan, the jacket has all of the buttons left undone, and his red-bordered belt is left unbelted. He has also rolled up the sleeves of his jacket, both of which have their zippers left open.

The teal shirt he wears beneath the jacket has the top two buttons left undone, exposing a pumpkin orange undershirt. His leather shoes are the standard charcoal grey.

Belphegor's School Uniform is an available outfit in Majolish. In Obey Me!, it is unlocked by default. In Nightbringer, it can be obtained by unlocking the Devil's Tree "Clothing" space in the Demon Card The Avatar of Gluttony.

Demon Look

Beelzebub Demon full.png

Beelzebub's demon look was first revealed in Lesson 4-19 Obey Me!'s Main Story, and was the third demon appearance to be seen by MC. In Nightbringer, it is his standard appearance. In this form, Beelzebub has a pair of black horns with a segmented pattern. The horns curve around the sides of his head before curving upward to end pointing up above his head.

Beelzebub also has a pair of insect-like wings on his back resembling the wings of a fly. They are semi-transparent and granite grey in color, and are long enough to reach his knees.

When in his demon form, Beelzebub has several thin, black markings on his neck and upper chest.

Beelzebub's outfit when in demon form consists of a dark grey tank top with a light grey design on the left side, and a dark grey jacket with a popped collar, gold studs on each arm, and white cuffs. There are several black belts with gold buckles wrapped around each of Beelzebub's arms, more black belts around his left leg, and a black belt, white belt, and orange-and-violet patterned belt around his waist. The right side of his dark grey pants also have gold studs. His shoes are black and paired with dark grey gaiters, which have a similar light grey pattern to his tank top and orange lining.

Beelzebub's Demon Look is an available outfit in Majolish. In Obey Me!, it can be purchased by using Raven in Akuzon. In Nightbringer, it is unlocked by default.

Everyday Clothes

Beelzebub Everyday full.png

Beelzebub was first seen wearing his everyday clothes in Lesson 2-6 of Obey Me!'s Main Story. The outfit consists of a wide neck, dark grey t-shirt with a pattern of triangle outlines in white and orange wrapping around the shirt's front and back. Over the shirt is a cetacean blue, orange, and white parka coat with a fur-trimmed collar, said fur being pale tan in color.

His pants are navy blue and loose-fitting at the knees and ankles; they have what appear to be drooping suspenders with a pattern of deep violet and forest green triangles. Beelzebub also wears a loose belt that is deep violet with magenta horizontal stripes and is not fully buckled. His sneakers are charcoal grey and orange with forest green laces and black soles. He wears a cord bracelet with colors matching his jacket on his left wrist, and a leather cord necklace with a pendant of two connected silver triangles is wrapped around his neck.

Human World Look

Beelzebub Human World Look full.png

Beelzebub was first seen in his Human World look in Lesson 41-1 of Obey Me!'s Main Story. The outfit consists of a charcoal grey tank top with white trim, and a maroon red and charcoal grey jacket with white accents. Said jacket is wrapped around Beelzebub's waist, leaving visible on his right arm a rose taupe red tattoo that for some reason Beelzebub only possesses when wearing his Human World clothes.

His capri pants have a camouflage pattern colored black olive green, army green, and camel brown. A black belt with an orange border hangs unbuckled on Beelzebub's left side. His sneakers are black with crimson red laces, crimson red and white stripe patterns along the sides, and white soles. The tongues of the shoes are orange. He also wears a dark grey and maroon red sports watch on his left wrist, and a gold chain necklace around his neck.

Personality[edit]

There is no denying that Beelzebub represents the title "Avatar of Gluttony" through and through. He regularly wants food, and lets his wants known regularly as well. The majority of his Home Screen dialogues are about food or eating, and he commented that he dreams of one day "owning a chef as a pet" in the chat It'll Come True 1.

Both Lucifer and Barbatos each lament in their Home Screen dialogues that Beelzebub often eats not only his food, but the plates said food is served on. He has been known to eat a number of non-edible things by accident, such as in the chats The Pink Bath Bomb and The Missing Pillow. His worst subject at RAD is magical potions, because — as Leviathan pointed out in Lesson 29-2 (OM) — he typically drinks all of the potions he makes for class.

When it comes to food, Beelzebub's self-control is very low, and there have been numerous times where he let his anger over food get the best of him. One incident took place in Lessons 4 and 5 (OM), when he flew into a rage over a custard of his that was stolen. Again in Lesson 26-15 (OM), he had a "hunger tantrum" when a restaurant refused to allow him to eat as many parfaits as he wanted.

Beelzebub is aware that most people think that he only thinks of food, and directly says as much in one of his Home Screen dialogues: "I know what you're thinking. Can't he say anything besides 'I'm hungry?'" However, in the Devilgram Unspoken Affection, the results of the D.D.D. app "Demon Brain Scan" showed that only 40% of Beelzebub's brain is taken up by "food." 50% of it is taken up by "family."

Beelzebub loves all of his brothers greatly, and to ensure he's strong enough to help protect them, one of his main pastimes is exercising and working out. His typical workout schedule — as seen in the Devilgram Beel's Boot Camp — begins with an early morning jog, followed by breakfast, and then weight lifting before going to RAD. Once classes are over, he trains by doing drills of 100 sprints with his Fangol team, which is a Devildom sport similar to American football. Finally, before going to bed, he always does some weightlifting, as mentioned in the chat Right Before You Go to Bed.

In addition to playing Fangol, Beelzebub participates in a number of other sports, and enjoys sharing his experience with others. He is a patient and skilled teacher to those willing to learn the sports he enjoys, as seen in both Devilgrams Catch a Wave! and A Perfect Winter Romance, when he taught MC how to surf and how to snowboard.

Similar to his twin brother Belphegor, Beelzebub is a deep sleeper, as mentioned by Leviathan in the Devilgram Hat Mischief. In the Devilgram Hungry for Mealtime, Beelzebub also mentioned that he can sleep while he eats.

Beelzebub is not as active on social media as some of his other brothers. While he has a DevilTube channel, he posts infrequently. Many of his videos were uploaded by Mammon and Asmodeus, as mentioned in the chat Beel the DevilTuber 3. When Beel uploads his own videos, they are usually workout videos, such as a morning workout routine or a weight training tutorial.

His brothers once suggested that he post ASMR videos in the chat DevilTuber Debut? 1, but it is was never stated if he did so. In the chat Gaining Followers, he sought Asmodeus's advice on how to gain followers on Devilgram after he'd received a package from one of his followers. He was motivated to grow his Devilgram account by the belief that his followers would send him more food if he posted more often.

Powers and Abilities[edit]

Note: this section may include spoilers.

Beelzebub is capable of eating things that even most demons would not be able to consume without negative consequences, and he does so on a regular basis. Both Lucifer and Barbatos comment in their Home Screen Dialogues that Beelzebub often eats both his food and the plates its served on, and in Diavolo's Home Screen Dialogues, he mentions that Beelzebub once "ate a pillar in the Demon Lord's Castle."

In Lesson 42-1 (OM), Beelzebub was able to call forth the legendary Rock Giant during a game of "rock, paper, scissors."

Beelzebub has a very keen sense of smell, to the point where he can even smell if someone is a demon, angel, or human, as he mentioned in Lesson 45-9 (OM). Furthermore, in the Devilgram Hungry for Mealtime, he states he can tell "every ingredient that goes into a dish just by smelling it."

As first seen in Lesson 46-1 (OM), Beelzebub unlocks his ability to conjure large gusts of wind when he lends his power to MC.

As seen in the Devilgram The Avatar of Gluttony, Beelzebub is adept at navigating using his senses because of his blindfolded spear training with Raphael in the Celestial Realm.

Story[edit]

Background[edit]

Note: this section may include spoilers.

Beelzebub was originally an angel who was created the same time as Belphegor.(source?) Before becoming a demon, he still had a large appetite, but attempted to repress his hunger, and even attempted to diet, as seen in Lesson 44-3 (OM).

As he told MC in Lesson 45-18 (OM), Beelzebub originally wanted to use his immense strength to became a soldier for the Celestial Realm, but had trouble controlling his powers. He often destroyed things by accident, and when he did, Raphael always made sarcastic comments about him. This made him feel very depressed, until Lucifer went out of his way to advise him to focus on protecting instead of attacking. After following his advice, Beelzebub was given the angelic rank of Cherub, and guarded the gates to the Celestial Realm, as he was seen doing in Lesson 44-3 (OM).

Like his brothers, he fought in the Great Celestial War alongside Lucifer, but it was a losing battle.(source?) After his beloved sister was mortally wounded, he fell into the Devildom and became a demon. The Demon King ranked him the sixth-born of his brothers due his strength.(source?)

Obey Me!'s Main Story[edit]

Note: this section may include spoilers.

Lessons 1-10[edit]

Lesson 1[edit]

When MC asks him about the whereabouts of their seventh brother, Beelzebub warned to MC to never mention him in front of Lucifer. Beelzebub further added that he won't say anything for the reason that Lucifer will yell at him nor will his brothers. With a sad look on his face, he claims injustice that even though he is their brother, they have to treat him like he doesn't exist.

Lesson 3[edit]

Mammon and MC have a 12-hour TSL Full Series DVD Marathon Night in MC's room in order to become big enough fans to be allowed into Leviathan's room to borrow the TSL Soundtrack. Beelzebub ends up joining them for the marathon for the snacks they had while watching.

After MC challenges Leviathan to a contest to see who is the bigger TSL fan, Satan and Beelzebub meet them in a hallway in RAD with some advice. Beel tells them that Levi is the avatar of envy, so if they want to throw him off his game they need to get him into a jealous frenzy. He also warns them that if that happens he will become a danger to them.

During the contest, he makes an appearance as a guest after being paid in cheeseburgers. He interjects with various food-related comments, even drooling over some of the foods mentioned in the questions.

Lesson 4[edit]

In lesson 4-17 MC learns that Beelzebub believes Mammon's cooking is so bad that he declines a tasty-sounding sandwich because he believes Mammon made it. Once he learns that he got it from a witch he wolfs it down, which starts an argument. The argument is interrupted by Simeon and Luke who have come to invite them to a camping trip, which only sounds good to Beelzebub because of the chance of roasted marshmallows.

Lesson 5[edit]

One day, Mammon texted MC saying he was hungry, and asked MC to come down to the kitchen. Once there, Mammon talked MC into eating Beelzebub's custard, despite having a note clearly stating "Property of Beelzebub. Eat it, you die." To their surprise, Beelzebub caught them in the act and flew into a rage, transforming into his demon form.

After being lectured for hours by Lucifer on the incident that had occurred, MC, who had their room totally destroyed due to Beelzebub's attacks, was told by Lucifer to sleep in Beelzebub's room until repairs were completed. Beelzebub had no choice but to accept Lucifer's demand.

In his room, Beelzebub tells MC to not sleep on the bed on the right side of the room because it was his twin brother's bed. Instead, he tells MC to sleep in his bed, as he will sleep on the couch. When MC asks again about his twin brother, Belphegor, Beelzebub stated that he was in the Human World as an exchange student, despite being opposed to the idea in the first place.

Though they are twins, Beelzebub states that he and his brother do not look alike and were only considered twins because their father had made them at the same time. Beelzebub also mentions that they had a little sister named Lilith and that the three of them got along very well with each other. Due to MC's suspicions, they asked Beelzebub to show them a picture of Belphegor, thus confirming the truth that the person in the attic was indeed Belphegor.

The next morning, MC eavesdrops on a conversation where Beelzebub tries to convince Lucifer to let him be the exchange student so Belphegor can return home. a request that is promptly denied. Later that day, MC brings Luke in to stay the night. Beelzebub shows him some kindness by giving him juice and letting him secretly stay in his room, supposedly because Luke gave him cake once.

The next morning, Beelzebub and MC take part of their meal back to their room to give to Luke. When Lucifer comes for a "surprise inspection" he tells the angel to hide in the closet. He doesn't sound optimistic about their chances of hiding anything from Lucifer, going so far as to tell a story of a witch Asmodeus brought home who even after transforming into a spider was found during an inspection. Somehow, when the closet is checked Luke is no longer there.

Lesson 6[edit]

During MC and Beelzebub's search for Luke, Beelzebub talks about a dollhouse that is a replica of the House of Lamentation and, with the help of MC, uses it to find a secret room - a replica of Lilith's room from the Celestial Realm. MC questions Beelzebub about Lilith and Beelzebub opens up about his history with them and the Great Celestial War. He mentions that he had a choice in saving her or Belphegor and, as he chose to save Belphegor, he blames himself for her death, despite many telling him that it wasn't his fault.

Beelzebub also believes Belphegor blames him for Lilith's death. Later, when Lucifer is going to attack Luke for picking up a grimoire, he confronts Beelzebub for bringing in and hiding Luke. Lucifer decides he will attack Beelzebub as well before MC stands between them to stop the attack. Beelzebub later asks MC why they risked themselves like that, thanks them, and agrees to make a pact with them.

After Lucifer apologizes to MC, a meeting convenes about Diavolo's plan to have a retreat at the Demon Lord's Castle wherein humans, angels, and demons will interact and spend more time with each other. During the meeting, Beelzebub seems to be unable to focus on anything except for mentions of food and the dinner party. MC informs an imprisoned Belphegor about the exchange party, but he mentions that the important thing is if MC had only made a pact with Beelzebub.

Lesson 7[edit]

Once at the Demon Lord's Castle, in a room where almost all the brothers are present, it is seen that Asmodeus and Mammon are fighting, with everyone else around them bothered by the racket, all except for an oblivious Beelzebub who comments about how shadow swine offal they served at the castle was of good taste.

For the retreat, he is assigned a room with Luke and Leviathan. During the explanation of the events and every day's meal being from one of the three realms, Beelzebub provides plenty of comments regarding his excitement for the variety of foods. After taking their belongings to their assigned rooms, everyone meets back in the main room where Luke reports that Beelzebub had eaten a painting in their room already.

During the castle tour, a talking painting interrupts. It turns out to be an ex-girlfriend of Asmodeus. After a fight between them, she pulls Mammon, Leviathan, Beelzebub, Solomon, Asmodeus, and MC into the painting. The painting operated as a kind of teleportation device, as everyone pulled inside lands in an underground labyrinth where Leviathan's old pet snake, Henry 1.0 lives. The snake doesn't recognize Leviathan and tries to attack the group, prompting them to run away. Solomon, Asmodeus, and MC catch up with them, and Solomon decides to use his power to make Asmodeus strong enough to tame Henry 1.0. Once Henry 1.0 is fully enchanted by Asmodeus, he helps them find the labyrinth's exit.

The missing party returns in time for dinner, so while Beelzebub was disappointed that wasn't allowed to eat Henry 1.0 he enjoys the special Devildom dinner made by Barbatos.

Lesson 8[edit]

The next morning, on day two of the retreat, Beelzebub complains when an over-tired Mammon starts leaning on him during the explanation of the scavenger hunt. During the scavenger hunt, Asmodeus charms a statue that his team is attempting to photograph, keeping them from completing their task. Later that night at dinner, Beelzebub joins the discussion about the Celestial Realm food made by Luke when he asks for more. Solomon and Diavolo offer their share of the dinner to him, even though Lucifer tries to discourage them from doing so. Even when Diavolo signals the end of dinner, Beelzebub complains that he didn't finish eating.

Even later that night, Mammon, Leviathan, Beelzebub, and MC meet in the halls of the Demon Lord's Castle to begin MC's plan of getting a picture of Lucifer sleeping. They enter the room they believe to be the one Lucifer and Diavolo are staying in, but it's pitch black inside and they find Cerberus waiting for them.

The door they came in through is now locked as they were teleported to another room. In their escape, they end up dropping through an opening in the floor back into the labyrinth below and are pursued once more by Henry 1.0. MC, who temporarily has access to Solomon's magic, summons Asmodeus and amplifies his powers to charm Henry 1.0 again and safely leave the labyrinth. This leads to Lucifer lecturing them, but Asmodeus cuts it off by entering into a pact with MC.

When an argument breaks out in the shared room of Asmodeus, Simeon, and MC, the commotion brings everyone else to the room, including Beelzebub. He is initially too hungry to care, but the argument eventually escalates into a pillow fight with everyone involved, and the pillows remind him of marshmallows.

The next afternoon, everyone wakes up late from their eventful night and enjoys a brunch of Human World food prepared by MC, Solomon, and Barbatos. They quickly learn that Solomon's cooking is very unique, in such a way that everyone finds it disgusting. This marks the end of the retreat.

Lesson 9[edit]

After the retreat back at the House of Lamentation, all of the brothers, minus Lucifer, are talking in the dining room. The conversation turns to MC's new pact with Asmodeus, who curiously asks why MC is interested in making pacts with all of them. To everyone's surprise, they answer that they want to earn Lucifer's respect. When Mammon and Satan ask why they would want to do that Lucifer, who had been quietly hanging back, joins in on this line of questioning. When Satan suddenly declares he wants to make a pact with MC the others become audience members to a heated argument between him and Lucifer.

During a conversation in MC's bedroom Mammon, Leviathan, Asmodeus, and Beelzebub learn that MC wants to earn Lucifer's respect so that they can help repair his relationship with Belphegor. The brothers tell them the story of how during a huge fight with their father Lucifer became so angry that Satan was born from his wrath. They further explain that even though they all helped Satan grow into who he is, Lucifer was the biggest influence making them very similar and resulting in such explosive arguments. Together they decide that if Satan makes a pact with MC only to spite Lucifer, it will have the opposite of the desired effect.

Main Character[edit]

Obey Me![edit]

Beelzebub is the third demon that MC makes a pact with, due to wanting to repay them for shielding him and Luke from Lucifer's fury in Lesson 6. When Belphegor was freed and MC's goal in making pacts with the brothers was exposed, Beelzebub was the only one who didn't feel upset by MC's actions. He admits that being around MC makes him feel less hungry and he frequently vows to protect them, happy for MC to use him as a bodyguard.

Obey Me![edit]

Back when the brothers were angels, Lucifer gave Beelzebub the confidence he needed when he struggled to control his powers, and was also the reason that he became a Cherub. Beelzebub was once the leader of Lucifer's personal guard when they were still angels, as he tells MC in Lesson 40-3. Now that they're demons, he is still loyal to Lucifer, has no trouble following his orders (especially when bribed with food), and rarely questions them. A rare exception this this is in Lesson 13, when Beelzebub found out that Lucifer was keeping Belphegor locked in the attic, resulting in him nearly attacking his elder brother.

While Beelzebub tends to agree with the other demon brothers that Mammon is an idiot, out of the seven of them he insults Mammon the least often. Mammon himself is quite protective of his younger brothers, and sometimes gives Beelzebub treats as mentioned in one of his home screen dialogues. Beelzebub also states in the chat I Don't Want to Lose to You 3 that Mammon has the ability to raise everyone's spirits, and the mood always feels lively with him around, which is why he'd want someone like Mammon on his team.

Obey Me![edit]

Belphegor is Beelzebub's younger twin brother. The two share a special bond that allows them — to an extent — to feel what the other is feeling. In one of Simeon's home screen dialogues, he states that Beelzebub becomes more talkative whenever Belphegor is around. Belphegor can also be persuaded into doing activities he wouldn't normally do because Beelzebub asked him to.

Obey Me![edit]

Lilith is his younger sister that he was once very close to. Because he saved Belphegor and not her during the Great Celestial War, she is a strong source of guilt in his life.

Obey Me![edit]

According to Beelzebub in Lesson 43-19, his memories of Michael when he was still and angel were that he "smelled tasty," like sweets and dessert food. This is because Michael would often eat these kinds of foods.
