Asmodeus is a demon whose first appearance in Obey Me!'s Main Story was in Lesson 1-2, and whose first appearance in Nightbringer's Main Story was Lesson 1-1. He has six brothers, and as the fifth-most powerful of the seven, he holds the title of "fifth-born." He also possesses the title "Avatar of Lust" and is a representative of that sin. As one of the main characters in both Obey Me! and Nightbringer, he is included in both games' Intimacy system.

Appearance[edit]

Asmodeus has short, champagne pink hair with an asymmetrical style, such that his bangs are much longer on his left side and reach past his ears. His skin is pale, and his eyes are a gradient of raspberry pink and lemon yellow. His nails are painted in an alternating pattern, and like Leviathan, Asmodeus is one of the only two demon brothers with varying nail colors. Most often his nails are raspberry pink and teal green, as shown in the majority of his outfits and in most of his card art.

However, his nails are also sometimes lime green instead of teal. Examples of this color include the card art for many of his standard cards in Obey Me!, such as Guided by Desire and The Ghost Ship, as well as the event card Butler Room Service. His sprites for his RAD Uniform, his Demon Look, his Everyday Clothes, and his Butler Suit all portray him with lime green nails, as seen in cards like I'll Expose Everything!, Is That Sweat?! Gross!, and With a Touch Of Asmodeus!.

The card With a Touch Of Asmodeus! also shows how his Arabian outfit manicure pattern differs from every other instance. Asmodeus's nails are typically symmetrical, with most of his card art and outfits reflecting the pattern shown in his nail polish reference sheet, even when the colors are different. However, his sprite for his Arabian outfit shows his right thumbnail being teal and his left thumbnail being pink, indicating that the alternating pattern continues across both hands. His full body sprite of his Arabian Outfit also shows how his toenails reflect the same deviation from his usual pattern.

As seen in the official height chart, Asmodeus is the shortest of the seven brothers, only slightly shorter than Mammon.

RAD Uniform

Asmodeus's RAD Uniform is the typical charcoal grey jacket with gold accents and matching charcoal-colored pants with red stripes along the sides. The lowest gold button on his right side is undone, and his red-bordered belt is not properly belted, instead being tied in a loose knot on his left side.

He wears the standard teal shirt beneath his jacket paired with an apricot pink ribbon tied in a bow. His leather shoes are the standard charcoal grey.

Asmodeus's School Uniform is an available outfit in Majolish. In Obey Me!, it is unlocked by default. In Nightbringer, it can be obtained by unlocking the Devil's Tree "Clothing" space in the Demon Card The Avatar of Lust.

Demon Look

Asmodeus's demon look was first revealed in Lesson 8-13 of Obey Me!'s Main Story, and is his standard appearance in Nightbringer. In this form, Asmodeus has a pair of small, black horns with a segmented pattern. The horns point upward from their base, and curve inwards above Asmodeus's head. Their tips are raspberry pink in color.

Asmodeus also has two small pairs of wings on his back, the "fingers" of each wing ending in small curls. The upper pair is even smaller than the lower pair. The wing membranes are normally black, but at times seem to change color to shades of pink and purple, as seen in art for cards like The Secret Flower and Looking at Someone.

When in his demon form, Asmodeus has three black, heart-shaped markings on his left arm.

Asmodeus's outfit when in demon form consists of a sleeveless, dark grey tailcoat with a brick-like pattern and decorative fabric roses on the front. The back has a heart-shaped cutout to accommodate Asmodeus's wings, and there are heart-shaped, gold buttons down the front and on each of the detached black cuffs. The cuffs and tailcoat both have a neon fuchsia lining, and the right pants leg has a pattern of black, granite grey, and neon fuchsia diamonds. The right leg of the otherwise black pants also has a series of gold buckles down the front, and a decorative, gold scorpion wraps around the front and back of the jacket.

Asmodeus's Demon Look is an available outfit in Majolish. In Obey Me!, it can be purchased by using Raven in Akuzon. In Nightbringer, it is unlocked by default.

Asmodeus was first seen in his Human World look in Lesson 41-1 of Obey Me!'s Main Story. The outfit consists of a black polo necked sweater vest with a pattern of vertical stripes underneath a loose-sleeved sweater with five chocolate brown buttons on each sleeve. The top of the sweater is folded over itself to have an off-the-shoulder neckline, and has a gradient color pattern of tulip pink at the top fading into white at the bottom.

His pants are navy blue, and his knee-high boots are dark grey with short, square heels and gold snaps. Around his neck is a gold-chained necklace with a square, magenta pendant. Hanging from the neckline of his sweater is a pair of black-framed sunglasses with round lenses. As mentioned in Issue 7 of the RAD Newspaper, Asmodeus chose these sunglasses because Lucifer complimented them.

In Obey Me!, Asmodeus's Human World Look is an available outfit in Majolish, and can be obtained by unlocking the Devil's Tree "Clothing" space in the Demon Card Beauty Trip for Two.

Personality[edit]

Asmodeus is a demon that is very focused on his appearance, and can at times often come off as narcissistic. In Beelzebub's Devilgram, Unspoken Affection, the results of the D.D.D. app "Demon Brain Scan" are that 80% of Asmodeus's brain is taken up by "me." The other 20% is split evenly between "beauty" and "other."

He's very proud of the way he looks, and is always putting in the effort to make sure he's at his most attractive at all times. According to the Right Before You Go to Bed chat, he always puts on a face mask right before he goes to bed. Asmodeus makes sure to do his research when it comes to beauty tips and methods, as he demonstrated in the Devilgram Return My Glow, when he told MC a technique for applying lotion that improves circulation.

In the Devilgram Asmo, the Recluse?, Asmodeus explained that his fifth most favorite feature on his face is his ears, his fourth is his hair, and his third is his nose.

Due to his notoriety as being both beautiful and fashionable, Asmodeus has often been asked by companies to design things like accessories, shoes, and clothing, as he told MC in Lesson 31-16 (OM). In return for his assistance, he's often given free products by the brands he works with.

To Asmodeus, an even better feeling than knowing he looks good, is to have his admirers telling him that he looks good. Asmodeus is very much an extrovert, and loves going to parties and clubs so much that he told Solomon in the Devilgram Guided by Desire that "going out at night to party, having romantic interludes, these are the very important rituals that make me who I am."

He also enjoys going to parties because he can be surrounded by his fans. They are a large part of the reason he takes such care with his looks, and why he often tries to hide any flaws or imperfections he sees in himself.^(source?) He wants the people who adore him to keep doing so, and for him that means only showing others a positive, beautiful appearance and demeanor.

In Asmodeus's phone call titled Your Voice, he told MC that if he were feeling sad, he wouldn't have called them, because that would be showing MC a "not-so-fabulous side of me if I did that." In Lesson 7-7 (OM), Simeon commented that he sees Asmodeus as someone who is "very attached to [his] reputation" and who works hard "trying to live up to it."

As the "Avatar of Lust," it is no surprise that Asmodeus is a known flirt. Even in the middle of dangerous situations, such as in Lesson 7-14 (OM), he takes the time to try and persuade MC into telling him what "secret, shameful thoughts" they might be trying to hide. He is known to frequently bring people back to his room, to the point that Lucifer warned him not to do so with a newly arrived Solomon, who Asmodeus was showing around the Devildom in the Devilgram Proud Brothers.

He also makes suggestions and flirtatious advances towards MC often, as seen in chats such as A Request from Asmo when he mentions his back is sensitive such that touching it could make it "hard to hold back," and in I Could Use Some Company when he invited MC to come sleep in his bed, but warned them that he sleeps "au naturel."

Asmodeus also posts frequently on DevilTube, and often uploads beauty videos such as "How to Do Your Makeup When You're Going on a Date," as mentioned in Lesson 31 (OM). He also uploads his morning and night routines, and "Get Ready With Me" videos.

He had planned to livestream tour of the House of Lamentation, as mentioned in the chat A Room Tour 2, but that idea was scrapped, so instead he did a live Q&A turned concert. As mentioned in the chat The Black Diamond Creator Award, he has achieved a Black Diamond Play Button, which is the most prestigious award a DevilTuber can earn.

Asmodeus typically gets along with his brothers, but because they don't share his dedication to beauty, fashion, and...himself, his brothers' actions can annoy him at times. An example of this is in Lesson 20 (OM), when Beelzebub ate a trendy sweet that Asmodeus had wanted to post on his Devilgram.

As stated in Issue 5 of the RAD Newspaper, Asmo likes listening to "healing music."
- In the chat Let's Form a Band 2, Asmodeus said that the brothers should form a glam rock band, implying he also enjoys this type of music.
According to the Which Are You? chat, he prefers smooth red bean paste over chunky because it's more creamy and rich.
One of Asmodeus's favorite dishes from Ristorante Six is Dragon Tail Thermidor, as mentioned in Lesson 29-1 (NB).
He seems to enjoy fortune-telling and horoscopes.

In Diavolo's Cursed Cutlery dialogue, he mentioned that Asmodeus doesn't like Devildom eggplant.
As seen in the Devilgram Snowy Bliss, Asmodeus hates being cold.
- He also dislikes the dry winter air because it damages his skin.
- He does, however, appreciate the aesthetic of winter, as he told MC in the chat Winter's a Comin'.
Asmodeus takes great pride in his appearance, which means he dislikes anything that could mess it up.
- In the chat Asmo's Grocery Shopping 1, he complained about grocery shopping because he didn't want to carry around a drab plastic bag.
- In the chat Sportsmanship? What's That?, he said that he doesn't look good when sweaty.
- He also doesn't like getting dirty, which is why he refused to weed the garden in the chat A Garden Should Be Beautiful.
- Asmodeus dislikes washing dishes because his skin will get rough, as he explained in the chat Switching House Chores 1
  - Despite this, he mentioned that he always hand-washes his clothing in the chat The Lost Sock 1.
He doesn't like snakes, and said he wouldn't want to even touch one in Lesson 15-10 (NB).
Asmodeus does not like bugs at all, and referred to them as "disgusting creatures" in the chat That-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named.
According to the chat Spirit Week, Asmodeus finds the RAD Newspaper Club account annoying, so he turned off their notifications.

Asmodeus is the fifth most powerful demon brother and the Avatar of Lust. All demons have the ability to manipulate or seduce humans, but Asmodeus possesses a particularly strong version of this ability.^(source?) Asmodeus is able to charm someone when they gaze into his eyes. However; as mentioned in Lesson 11 (OM), certain humans with exceptional magical power are immune to this ability. This includes MC, as well as some other witches or sorcerers.

In Lesson 8 (OM), it was shown that Asmodeus's charm also works on inanimate objects when he charmed a goddess statue, causing it to come to life. It was also shown that Asmodeus is able to charm animals, as he used his ability on Henry 1.0, who is a snake. Asmodeus communicated with Henry 1.0 after he charmed him, which may indicate that his ability grants him the power to communicate with animals.

In Lesson 34 (OM), Asmodeus seemed to demonstrate an ability to tell by scent if someone is feeling attraction towards him. When MC was looking at pictures of Asmodeus when he was still an angel, Asmodeus claimed that MC was emitting an aroma of attraction. Even if MC didn't feel certain about that, Asmodeus stated that there's no mistaking the scent.

Background[edit]

Asmodeus was once an angel in the Celestial Realm of unknown rank.^(source?) He stated that he was loved and adored by all, and was given the nickname "Jewel of the Heavens."^(source?) While not seen in his Angelic Clothes outfit, Asmodeus possessed wings when he was still an angel, as he mentions having his wings groomed in Lesson 37-12 (OM).

Even as an angel, Asmodeus still had a personality very similar to when he later became a demon. As Beelzebub warned in Lesson 44-3 (OM), he would "hit on anything that moves." Asmodeus countered that claim by stating he had a talent for seeing the good in everyone. In the same Lesson, he mentioned sneaking out to go to a party, and hiding to avoid getting scolded by Raphael.

He joined Lucifer and the other brothers in the Great Celestial War, but after their defeat, fell into the Devildom and became a demon.^(source?)

It is revealed in the Obey Me! Misadventures manga that he is the one who paints all of his brothers' nails, as well as his own.

Asmodeus is one of 72 demons to have forged a pact with Solomon, which makes him the only one of the seven brothers to have multiple pacts with humans.^(source?) According to Solomon, Asmodeus gifted him a huge oil painting of himself when they first formed a pact.^(source?)

Obey Me!'s Main Story[edit]

Lessons 1-10[edit]

Lesson 1[edit]

When first introduced, Asmodeus spoke with confidence that Lucifer, who dreaded the idea of introducing his brothers, should be honored to be able to introduce such a sweet, beautiful, charming little brother such as him. If MC asked about his sin, Asmodeus had them look into his eyes in an attempt to seduce them, an ability he had that is much more powerful than the average demon. This is why he was surprised when his ability didn't seem to have an effect.

Lesson 2[edit]

Later, amidst the fuss about Mammon forming a pact with MC, he and Satan were seen to be playing a friendly game of cards with Solomon. After a round, Solomon asked Asmodeus and Satan why they always put down Mammon and that he thought they be a bit more respectful since he was their older brother.

Satan and Asmodeus both answered that it was because Mammon acted the most foolish out of all of them, but Satan quickly set aside the subject in favor of relaying the information he had gotten from Lucifer that MC had been able to make a pact with Mammon. When Solomon expressed surprise at the news, Asmodeus went on to question why forming a pact with a demon was considered such a big deal, putting forth the easy nature of his pact with Solomon as an example.

Lesson 3[edit]

When MC had a competition with Leviathan, Asmodeus became the host and provided MC with relatively easy questions while he gave Leviathan extremely hard ones.

Lesson 4[edit]

One morning at breakfast, Asmodeus joined a conversation with Mammon where he showed concern over MC not eating much of their meal. He then joined Mammon and Satan as they questioned why Beelzebub had also not eaten much. He added that he hadn't seen the Avatar of Gluttony not completely clean his plate in at least 5,000 years.

According to Beelzebub in Lesson 5-17, Asmodeus once snuck a witch into the House of Lamentation and his room. Stating that despite transforming into a spider to effectively hide, she was still discovered by Lucifer.

Lesson 7[edit]

When the brothers were due to stay at the Demon Lord's Castle for the school retreat, Asmodeus was assigned to room with both MC and Simeon, to which he boldly proclaimed that they must have been very pleased with the fact they got to share a room with him which would allow them to see different sides of him.

Mammon demanded to trade places with him (where he made false claims about both Solomon and Satan's characters as his assigned roommates), but Asmodeus easily saw through Mammon and knew that he was only doing it because he wanted to share a room and be close to MC, and Asmodeus refused just to spite him. Later in their room, Asmodeus asked Simeon for his opinion about him and asked both of his roommates if they thought there was anyone who didn't love him.

Later on during the tour of the castle, he encountered Helene and flirted with her, even though she was blatantly angry at him and blamed him for her imprisonment in a painting. As an act of revenge, Helene used her magic and attempted to suck Mammon, Leviathan, and Beelzebub into her painting and succeeded in doing so. As Solomon was pulled by her magic, he grabbed onto Asmodeus and drug the Avatar of Lust with him while saying it was only right because Asmodeus was the reason all of that was happening.

Before they managed to get completely sucked in, however, Asmo grabbed onto MC and pulled them along causing them all to be transported down to the castle's labyrinth. Asmodeus managed to get separated from everyone else until Solomon summoned him to his and MC's side, and Asmo chastised him for the uncouth summoning. The three reunited with Mammon, Leviathan, and Beelzebub as they were being chased by Henry 1.0. Solomon then enhanced Asmodeus' power and Asmodeus was able to charm the snake for them to safely leave the labyrinth unscathed.

When the missing party returned in time for dinner, Asmodeus was warned by Diavolo to be more careful, but he seemed to have not learned anything from the experience in the labyrinth.

Lesson 8[edit]

The next day during the scavenger hunt, Asmodeus photobombed every photo the other groups attempted to take and even charmed a statue to prove a point and ruin the experience for everyone. When called out for his behavior, he told everyone it was not his fault he was so charming and pointed out that the rules didn't say they couldn't interfere with the other teams. He then left in a huff, saying that he didn't feel like being lectured and MC followed after him.

He tried to use his charming ability on MC only to find that they were unaffected. This led MC to state that they wanted to make a pact with him so that Asmodeus could be controlled, but he laughed and haughtily said that he didn't go around making pacts with humans all willy-nilly. He agreed to enter one if they could obtain a photo of Lucifer sleeping (something which MC, Mammon, Leviathan, and Satan had tried before and failed), and prove that they are worthy of his respect by accomplishing a near-impossible feat.

Asmodeus was later summoned by MC, who temporarily had access to Solomon's magic, back into the labyrinth, much to his surprise. When MC began to recite Solomon's incantation to enhance Asmodeus' abilities in order to charm Henry 1.0 once more, Asmodeus stated that he felt an overwhelming surge of power throughout his entire being, more than with Solomon. He was once again able to charm the snake and exit the labyrinth for good.

As Lucifer was lecturing MC, Mammon, Leviathan, and Beelzebub for trying to take a picture of him in his sleep, Asmodeus suddenly announced that he would be making a pact with MC, even though they had been unable to fulfill his demand. He went on to state that his reason for doing so, even though MC had failed, was because he had been impressed by the unexpected show of skill MC possessed back in the labyrinth. Afterward, Asmodeus was seen playfully flirting with MC back in their room until Mammon barged in and demanded that he stay away from them. Due to the commotion they were making, everyone else gathered inside the room and a pillow fight ensued.

The next afternoon, everyone woke up late from their eventful night and enjoyed a brunch of Human World food prepared by MC, Solomon, and Barbatos. They quickly learned that Solomon's cooking was very unique, in such a way that everyone found it disgusting.

Lesson 9[edit]

After the retreat back at the House of Lamentation, all of the brothers, minus Lucifer, were talking in the dining room. The conversation turned to MC's new pact with Asmodeus, who curiously asked why MC was interested in making pacts with all of them. To everyone's surprise, they answered that they wanted to earn Lucifer's respect. When Mammon and Satan asked why they would want to do that Lucifer, who had been quietly hanging back, joined in on this line of questioning. When Satan suddenly declared he wanted to make a pact with MC the others became audience members to a heated argument between him and Lucifer.

During a conversation in MC's bedroom Mammon, Leviathan, Asmodeus, and Beelzebub learned that MC wanted to earn Lucifer's respect so that they could help repair his relationship with Belphegor. The brothers told them the story of how during a huge fight with their father Lucifer became so angry that Satan was born from his wrath. They further explained that even though they all helped Satan grow into who he was, Lucifer was the biggest influence making them very similar and resulting in such explosive arguments. Together they decided that if Satan made a pact with MC only to spite Lucifer, it would have the opposite of the desired effect.

Later, Lucifer held a meeting in MC's bedroom to lay down some ground rules with Satan for the time they spent in each other's bodies. Mammon and Asmodeus also attended and attempted to cause some trouble with Satan and Lucifer's body.

Lesson 10[edit]

While the other brothers and MC were stuck in the virtual world of a dating sim called Dogi✩Maji✩Memorium, Asmodeus and Beelzebub were looking around the House of Lamentation for them. After they tried to think of something fun to do together and found that their idea of fun was very different, they decided to go to Satan's room in search of the others. There they found the Forbidden Book and after another accident they also swapped bodies.

In the beginning, Asmodeus treated MC indifferently, though he was mildly curious as to why his powers don't work on them.^(source?) Things changed in Lesson 8 when MC summoned him by using some of Solomon's borrowed power. He was greatly impressed that MC was able to draw out his demonic powers even more potently than Solomon, and made a pact with them out of respect for their abilities.^(source?) From then on, Asmodeus has always been affectionate with MC, much to Mammon's annoyance. In time, he admitted to loving MC as much as he loves himself.^(source?)

Asmodeus looks up to and admires Lucifer greatly, as shown in That Special Someone's Devilgram. Asmodeus explained that if there's a person he admires more than himself, that would be Lucifer. However, Asmodeus also admitted that having someone as "perfect" as Lucifer as his brother has its downsides, and it frustrates Asmodeus sometimes. In Lesson 31-32, he was determined to win the Bloody Moon Competition, and was upset by the thought of Lucifer choosing not to compete. Asmodeus wanted to win fairly, and didn't want Lucifer's pity. But after hearing Lucifer's praises about him and what he had done to support Asmodeus, he became emotional, and praised Lucifer in turn.^(source?)

While Asmodeus greatly respects Lucifer, he has zero respect for Mammon. He — along with Leviathan and Satan — is often quick to mock his older brother, and one of the reasons for this is due to jealousy of Lucifer's favoritism towards Mammon. Said favoritism was something he complained about in the Devilgram Let Your Hair Down. However, in Mammon's Devilgram One Too Many Insults, Asmodeus felt bad for teasing Mammon after the latter appeared to have run away. He admitted in the same Devilgram that he sees Mammon as something of a rival who keeps him on his toes.

In the chat Front-Page News, Asmodeus was proud of Mammon for being featured on the front-page of Devil Style magazine.

Asmodeus and Solomon have known each other for a long time. The two formed a pact after Asmodeus had been insulted by humans and was sulking at a bar, as mentioned in Lesson 53-16. Solomon met him there, and after learning Asmodeus was Lucifer's brother, the two drank the night away and ended up in a pact. Afterwards, as Solomon tells MC in Lesson 39-13, Asmodeus chose to give Solomon an object he holds dear — a large oil painting of himself — to act as a "permit" to allow Solomon to summon him between worlds at any time.

While Asmodeus is able to eat Solomon's food, he agrees with his brothers that Solomon's cooking is terrible.^(source?)
